Preparations for the B category Boat Manager exam
A person qualified to be the leader of a category B boat must be at least 18 years old to operate a boat with a propulsion power of more than 15 kW.
A person qualified to be the leader of a category B boat can:
- manage boats for personal needs in navigation area III and IV,
- operate boats for cargo transport and fishing in navigation area III and IV,
- manage boats for the transport of passengers in navigation area III b, III c and IV,
- manage yachts up to 18 m for personal needs in navigation areas III and IV,
- manage yachts up to 18 m for commercial purposes, which are rented without a crew in navigation areas III and IV.
- be a crew member of a boat for personal needs and a boat for commercial purposes in navigation area III and III a,
- be a crew member of a boat for the transport of passengers in navigation area I and II,
- be a member of the crew of a yacht over 18m regardless of purpose and area of navigation.
Duration of the course 4-6 Hrs.
Please note that preparations are not mandatory, but are organized at the request of the candidate with a lecturer.
It is mandatory to pass the exam in the competent Port Authority or the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure.

How much is a passing B category boat driver exam worth?
Once you have passed the exam, you will receive a certificate of qualification for Boat Manager of category B, which is issued without a time limit.
Who can take the B category boat driver exam?
A person who is at least 16 years of age and passes an exam according to the prescribed program can obtain a certificate of competence for a boat manager of category B. Until the age of 18, he is not allowed to operate boats with a power of propulsion devices greater than 15 kW (20 HP), after the age of 18, there is no limit on the power of propulsion devices (engines) for the rest of his life, and he has the right to sail with any vessel that is entered in the boat register.
Can I use this license to operate a chartered vessel?

Scope:
The course is conducted in accordance to the requirements of article 51. of the Regulations of boats and yachts (National gazette NN #27/2005).
Target:
- After successful completion of the course the trainees will be competent to operate:
- Passenger boats up to 3 Nm coast and Islands
- Cargo and fishing boats
- All types of pleasure boats
- Pleasure Yachts up to 15m
- Charter Yachts up to 15m without professional crew
