The course “Prevention and Response to Violence and Harassment, including Sexual Harassment, Bullying and Sexual Assault” is developed in accordance with the provisions of Maritime Safety Committee Resolution MSC.560(108) and is aligned with the amendments to Basic Safety Training, Section A-VI/1-4 of the STCW Code, as amended by MSC.560(108).
The course is intended for all seafarers, regardless of rank or duties on board, and aims to equip crew members with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize, prevent, and appropriately respond to violence and harassment in all their forms, including sexual harassment, bullying, and sexual assault.
The program includes:
key definitions and forms of unacceptable behavior according to MSC.560(108)
creating a safe, inclusive, and professional working environment
recognizing risk situations and early signs of violence or harassment
procedures for reporting, documenting, and escalating incidents
responsibilities of the employer, master, and crew members
support for victims and principles of confidentiality
protocols for effective response and prevention of recurrence
This program is conducted over a duration of 3 hours and can be delivered online if required.
